Will it fit inside the box?

Compare the overall size of an item with a box's usable inner space. Add a little room on every side, then check each possible orientation.

Check the dimensions

1. Item: overall outer size

Include protruding parts, backs, clasps or any fixed holder.

2. Box: usable inner space

Measure the space available after any insert or lining is in place.

For example, 2 mm per side adds 4 mm to each dimension. You choose the clearance; there is no universal allowance.

Inside or outside?

A finished box's outside dimensions include its walls and covering. Compare the item with the usable inside, after the insert is in place.

Can the item rotate?

The tool checks all six axis alignments. A listed alignment may still be unsuitable for a chain, a fragile setting, a shaped insert or the desired presentation.
